Make Money From Blogging: Build A List Part 1

Why do people blog? Well I suppose that people blog for many different reasons, but an increasing number of savvy marketers have realised that blogging is a very efficient way of building a list and therefore a way to make money. The more targeted the blogging the greater the potential for profit.





There are different reasons that people may want to blog, they may fall into any one or more of these main categories.





Vanity publishing, blogging is the easiest way to get your opinions content and ideas in front of the world biggest audience.





As a point for friends to keep contact with each other, share files, photos etc. This is becoming less important with the growth of social networking sites such as facebook, MSN, myspace and similar networking sites which has largely superseded the need for these blogs.





As a means of contacting and sharing information with like minded individuals. This is where the savvy marketers can use blogging to build a list and to use that list to make money. This is where we will be concentrating our efforts on!





So what is the easiest way to start blogging? Before I answer that I am going to ask you to be really clear about why you want to start blogging. Is it for one of the reasons given earlier? If so, then I hope it is for the purpose of list building to grow or start your own business. If not then maybe another article on this site may be more suited to your needs.





If it is about list building then let’s carry on, the quickest and easiest way of starting a blog is to use blogger a service from Google or one of the other big search engines that have there own blogging software. Some internet service provider will also have blogging tools as part of your account. Try a few out to see if you like the "feel" of them before you put in a huge amount of work.





These blogging services are free, easy to use and you can upload great content very quickly and they look very professional as you would expect from multi national companies on the cutting edge of web technology. The best part of all is that they are free.





However this all comes with a downside, you do not own the blog it is the property of the company that provides the service. This is fair enough there really is no such thing as a free lunch. If we really want to make the maximum impact then you really will have to invest some money (only a bit) to make sure you do it properly and that your blog is as professional as it should be.
